Denmark’s Oscar-nominated film
The film was based on Ida Jensen’s book The Captain and Ann Barbara Cimü and was shown on August 31, 2023 at the Venice Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Lion award.
The public presentation will take place on October 5, 2023 in Denmark.
The historical drama tells the story of Ludvig Kahlen.
The poor soldier, Ludvig Kahlen, arrives in the Jutland wilderness in 1755 to follow the king’s call, cultivate the land and gain wealth and honor for himself. But Kahlen quickly makes enemies. But the ruthless landowner believes that the land belongs to him and not to the king.
